Ascension contined

Like Allie, I met Nerys when she came to do a short stint of Supply work at Two Boats School. Living in front of my accommodation we soon hit it off and became friends. Nerys was always buzzing, wanted to do as much as she could while she was here, one of the first parties she came to was Octoberfest at the Officers Mess on the RAF base. She had a smashing time! There were many more over her short stay including a foam party! The Rugby World Cup was also a highlight, sitting in the Naafi watching the final. Nerys of course had to have her Welsh rugby shirt on!

When she wasnt working and partying Nerys was filling her letterbox book with as many stamps as she could. One memorable hike was up Green Mountain where we walked around Elliots, gaining a stunning 360 of the island. Another hiking to Devils Riding School and also up Sisters (Nerys fav). Although I apologised to Nerys that we hadn't done more she was so appreciative of the ones we did manage. I said before she left that when she came back we would do more!

On the walks we had many chats, about life, family, relationships and what the future holds. She always spoke about her children and i felt by the time Nerys left, I felt like I knew the family well.

Finally Nerys was so kind to me and supportive and gave great advice. She helped me in so many ways and it felt like I had a friend who really cares about others. At the VC before taking Nerys to the airport, I said to her that I had really enjoyed getting to know her, and that I was looking forward to seeing her again soon in the future. I will always remember the happy adventures that we had together.

Nerys will always be remembered here on Ascension by staff and students alike. Her impact will never be forgotten!
